Grant Highlights: Creating a Positive Impact with Philanthropy
At NPT UK we endeavour to support our donors in making a positive impact through their philanthropy.
Here are three examples of how grants from our DAF donors are making a difference, supporting crucial projects and causes as we head into 2023.
Protecting Human Rights
The United Nations states that “human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, regardless of race, sex, nationality, ethnicity, language, religion, or any other status.” However, with so much unrest and distress in the world, fundamental human rights are hardly guaranteed. A donor recently made a £3,000 grant to support work that monitors and researches human rights abuses, educates the public, seeks justice for victims, and advances human rights on an international level.
Providing a Future for Children with Learning Disabilities
There are 1.5 million people with a learning disability in the UK. More than 350,000 are children and young people under the age of 18. Donors made two grants equalling £49,000 to provide family support, research capacity, and equipment at the UK’s first purpose-built centre for multi-disciplinary therapy for childhood disability. These grants will deepen research into neurodevelopmental conditions, helping children with learning disabilities or autism lead full and active lives.
Keeping Women, Men, and Children Safe
One in four women and one in six men in the UK will suffer from domestic abuse during their lifetime. Victims’ experiences deserve attention and understanding so that we can respond effectively to domestic abuse in the future. Donors made grants totalling £3,000 to provide life-saving services to victims and help build a future free of domestic abuse.
